A serious road accident was recorded this Monday afternoon in the village of Buronjë, on the Saranda - Delvinë road segment.

A Toyota Auris vehicle left the road and fell from a bridge, leaving the driver, 62-year-old Nishan Ballaci, who was traveling alone, injured.

According to the testimonies of local residents, they immediately intervened to help and pull the driver out of the canal, where the vehicle had ended up.

Initially, Ballac was urgently transported to the Saranda Regional Hospital, where after receiving first aid, he was taken by ambulance to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana for specialized treatment, due to his serious injuries.

"Around 19:30, on the Delvinë-Saranda road, in the place called "Stiar", citizen NB, 61 years old, driving a "Toyota" vehicle, is suspected of having lost control of the vehicle, going off the road.

As a result of the accident, the 61-year-old man suffered injuries and was transported for more specialized treatment to the Tirana University Hospital, out of danger to his life.

"The investigation team is continuing with actions to fully clarify and document the circumstances of the accident," the police announced.
