Remal Rada, an operative of the RENEA special department in the State Police, who had left his post 6 months ago, was arrested yesterday evening with a heavy arsenal of weapons. Rada had only 4 days since he had returned from England to Albania, where he was driving a luxury vehicle with English license plates in Tirana.
While yesterday evening, the criminal police noticed in the parking lot of the local "Sofra e Ariu" abnormal actions of the former RENEA operative. He was in the company of Elton Hithi, a 28-year-old man from Laknas, previously convicted by the Tirana court for Theft with violence".
A third person gave him a bag, and Remal Rada together with Elton Heath put him inside the car. They then left in the direction of Elbasani street, where they were stopped by a police checkpoint "Shqiponja", the operative and officers of police station No. 1 in Tirana.
Inside the bag, the police found a modern sniper rifle and the corresponding ammunition. Remal Rada initially claimed in front of his former colleagues that he knew they had given him clothes, but then preferred not to speak on the record.
The same position was held by Elton Hithi, who was in the first passenger seat, when the police intervened. Elton Hithi confessed to the police that he had taken the bag from a person, without telling him the name, who told him that it was sports clothes, writes behind the scenes.
But everything in the red bag, were illegal items such as sniper rifles, ammunition of different calibers. The police are now conducting investigations to discover the third person who delivered the bag with weapons, to the other two persons who preferred not to reveal their names.
At the same time, the police searched the house of the former RENEA operative, where it turned out that he was also carrying a weapon in the apartment. In the house, the police seized an illegal pistol, various ammunition, binoculars, vehicle license plates, and symbols of the State Police.
This is not the first case that members of RENEA and other special units in the police department, arrested by their colleagues, were implicated in criminal activity.
