Albanian Franc Gergely alias Franc Çopja from Elbasan, 31 years old, receives the unenviable title of the first drug criminal extradited from Dubai to Belgium.

Since yesterday morning he is in a Belgian cell. Gergely is known as the absolute king of the Albanian environment, a clan leader who is considered responsible for at least nine murders.

Who is this man who ran his dirty business from a multi-million dollar villa in Dubai and was eventually exposed by the decrypted Sky ECC messages to his associates?

When Frank Gergely boarded a private plane specially booked by the Belgian government from Dubai, accompanied by investigators from the Brussels federal judicial police, he knew his empire had come to an end.

The Gulfstream G200 landed in Zaventem, where more police were waiting to take it to the investigating judge in Brussels.

The federal public prosecutor's office wants to take Gergelyn to the court of Assizes in 2024 as the leader of a brutal settlement in the Albanian environment in the streets of the Sint-Jans-Molenbeek municipality of Brussels. Gergely faces up to life in prison if convicted.

The direct execution of the Albanian Ardit Spahiu on November 27, 2020 was an unprecedented violence even for the Brussels underworld. The two executioners were arrested in Spain and Germany, according to the Albanian press, Franc Gergely and Ardit Spahiu are not strangers to each other.

They belong to two rival Albanian clans involved in extensive cocaine trafficking. Gergely is the absolute king of the Albanian drug environment and belongs to the Çopja clan, better known as "Sakati", based in Dubai.

At a safe distance and sheltered, he keeps a firm grip on things. His organization is involved in international arms trafficking and imports cocaine on a large scale from South America. Drugs enter Belgium through various ports, including Antwerp, but also through other European ports such as Rotterdam.

Spahiu u arrestua në vitin 2010 si i dyshuar për vrasjen e 52-vjeçarit Gëzim Alikaj në qytetin e tij të lindjes në Elbasan, por më pas u la i lirë, shkruan bw.

Së bashku me vëllain e tij të madh Rigers, Ardit Spahiu ka lidhje edhe me kriminelin famëkeq Erion Alibej.

Ai ndodhet në burg si organizator i vrasjes së dyfishtë të Emiljano Ramazanit dhe mikut të tij Regis Runaj më 20 dhe 29 qershor 2020, po në qytetin e Elbasanit.

Endrit Alibej, vëllai i Erionit, u vra disa vite më parë me dajën e tij Arben Dylgjeri dhe turkun Erdal Duranay në Bradashesh.

Grindja mes dy grupeve kriminale u përshkallëzua në vitin 2018 pasi një ngarkesë e madhe kokaine humbi në Britani.

Të dy klanet fajësuan njëri-tjetrin për transaksionin e drogës që shkoi keq. Që atëherë, disa ngjarje pasuan.

Vetë Gergely është i lidhur me jo më pak se nëntë vrasje me pagesw, gjashtë prej të cilave janë kryer në Shqipëri dhe të paktën një në Belgjikë, ajo e Spahiut. Ai vetë nuk i ndot duart, prandaj klani i tij punon me vrasës.

Ekzekutimi i Ardit Spahiut në Molenbeek ishte një vrasje e tepërt për Franc Gergely. Pas një hetimi të plotë gjyqësor në mjedisin shqiptar dhe me ndihmën e mesazheve të deshifruara nga kiptofonat Sky ECC, FGP-ja e Brukselit arriti të hartojë organizatën.

Një veprim ligjor i paprecedentë pasoi në tetor 2021 me kontrollet e 1100 oficerëve të policisë.

Qëllimi: çmontimi i rrjetit shqiptar të kokainës?

Gjithsej 192 kontrolle u kryen në të gjithë vendin, por fokusi ishte në Bruksel. Hetuesit zbuluan njëmbëdhjetë laboratorë kokaine dhe pesë plantacione kanabisi.

Ata sekuestruan mbi 32 tonë kokainë, përveç vilave, makinave të shtrenjta dhe apartamenteve luksoze me vlerë mbi 7 milionë euro.

Në të njëjtën kohë ka pasur edhe një operacion policor në Shqipëri, ku janë sekuestruar 15 prona, makina të shumta, madje edhe dy skafe.

Anëtarët e bandës, kryesisht shqiptarë dhe gjithashtu kolumbianë, janë aktualisht në gjyq në gjyqin më të madh kriminal të drogës ndonjëherë në vendin tonë. 142 të dyshuar janë në gjyq në ndërtesën Justitia në Evere, gjyqi ndoshta do të zgjasë pesë muaj.

Vrasja e Ardit Spahiut po trajtohet veçmas. Hetimi gjyqësor është po aq sa i përfunduar. Prokurori publik federal kërkon të sjellë Franc Gergely në gjykatën e asistentëve si autor të vrasjes. Në kohën e fakteve, Gergely ishte në Dubai.

Në fund të fundit, ishin mesazhet e deshifruara të Sky ECC që e fundoswn atë. Hetuesit gjetën foto dhe imazhe të torturave të tmerrshme dhe vendbanimeve mjedisore. Ata treguan një njeri si klient: Franc Gergely.

On June 16, 2023, the Federal Prosecutor's Office formally requested his arrest and extradition from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Belgium had signed an extradition treaty with the United Arab Emirates, which also includes Dubai, in December 2021 by former Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne. The treaty, which was negotiated with difficulty, first had to be ratified by both countries and did not enter into force until November 1, 2022.

So we had to wait for the first drug criminal to be extradited from the Arab country. Gergely was arrested in Dubai on September 14, 2023 and has been in jail ever since.

He now holds the unenviable title of being the first drug criminal extradited from Dubai to Belgium.

Franc Gergely is usually very discreet about his activities in the United Arab Emirates, but a project developer could not resist showing on his website the villa built for him in 2021 in Dubai Hills, the green heart of Dubai.

For those interested: the starting price for a 4-bedroom villa in this exclusive real estate project starts from 1.5 million euros and goes up to 7.8 million for a 7-bedroom villa.

Now the Albanian drug lord will have to exchange that luxurious apartment for a cell in Haren prison.

It is a sign of the times for other drug lords who feel out of reach in the Arab country.

The tale of Dubai as a safe haven for criminals with lots of money is over, Justice Minister Paul Van Tigchelt m has already declared.

The court still has a veritable wish list of suspects it wants to see extradited. With Franc Gergely, the exodus from heaven has already begun.
