The Mayor of Vlora "clarifies" the citizens about Zvërnec: 10

The Mayor of Vlora, Bruna Mersini, held a meeting with the residents of the Novosela Administrative Unit this Monday afternoon, where she discussed the new tourist project that is expected to be implemented in the Zvërnec area, as well as the impact that strategic investments have had on the economic development of Vlora over the years.

This meeting between them came after protests held in recent days by residents of the Zvërnec area, who have expressed their opposition to the construction of the planned resort.

During the conversation with the residents, Mersini emphasized that the institutions remain open to any citizen who has uncertainties or concerns regarding the project. She invited all residents, interest groups and organizations seeking more information to come to the responsible institutions or to her office, in order to receive the necessary clarifications for any questions they may have regarding this investment.

"I believe that you are part of the community that is pro-development. The project that is being developed in the Zvërnec area is a project that has a development of 4 billion euros and will bring over 10 thousand jobs to Vlora. Our goal is that all the people who have left Albania now see the area and their home as an opportunity and option much better than emigration.

"We must understand that all economic developments have their discussions, their question marks, but we must overcome this. We must not be held hostage to political forces and some claims of environmentalists and let them enter the area and hit investments," she said, further bringing to attention the transformation that Vlora has undergone over the last decade, emphasizing that infrastructure investments, including the Llogara Tunnel, have significantly expanded the map of the region's economic development.

Excerpt from the speech of the mayor of Vlora:

The Albanian government's goals for the development of the area are goals that want to increase the economic well-being of the residents of the area and of course the development of tourism, because the Vlora Airport brings Vlora to a level for the entire south. We will be the gateway to the entire south. We have a new project, a project that includes the entire area in this project and has a strong impact on the economy. I believe that you are part of the community that is pro-development. The project that is being developed in the Zvërnec area is a project that has a development of 4 billion euros and will bring over 10 thousand jobs to Vlora.

Our goal is that all people who have left Albania now see the area and their home as a much better opportunity and option than emigration. We must understand that all economic developments have their discussions, their questions, but we must overcome this. We must not be held hostage to political forces and some claims of environmentalists and let them enter the area and hit investments. Politics should not be done somewhere where there is protest, we have been open to people who have questions, even for those small political or environmental forces to appear before institutions and receive clarifications for the questions they have about the environment and all development, but no one has communicated.

At least for environmental protection, there is a priority for environmental protection. There is investment in the environment, the environment will not only be enriched with vegetation and then the construction coefficient will be the lowest so that the area has elite construction. I had a meeting yesterday with the residents of Zvërnec, they are open to development, but their questions about ownership remain to be clarified. The Poros area is one of the epicenters of the project's development, but above all you, Zvërnec and Poro is Albania, that Albania, as well as neighboring countries like Greece, Turkey, Italy, which have coasts, have resorts, and they have preserved nature, but they have developed. Very few years have passed, the development of Vlora has no less than 10 years, it seems like a very distant time, no it is not distant. In 10 years, the developments and investments that have occurred in Vlora are in process and are not stopping, and it seems like we are looking for things now.

If we once did not have development, there was development up to Skela, the Llogara Tunnel has taken economic development beyond that tunnel. Today we have our era, it will be the era where the economic development of the area will move to another level and we will be proud that at least to our children we will leave all the contribution of our lives with an economic value. Properties have started to grow, people come as tourists to your area. This is a duty for us, a duty for our children so that we can all contribute to making the development of the area a priority.
