New details have emerged regarding the serious incident inside the Koridallos high-security prison in Greece, where a 49-year-old Albanian prisoner was stabbed to death by a fellow inmate.

The victim is Jani Alia , also known by the nickname " Xheku ", sentenced to life imprisonment in Albania for murder.

The suspected perpetrator is a 28-year-old Greek citizen, who stabbed Alia with an improvised knife, causing two fatal wounds to her neck.

The incident occurred in the 3rd Wing of the prison, under circumstances that still remain unclear.

According to Greek media and investigative sources, there are strong suspicions that the murder was carried out on order, as part of a " death contract " ordered by an Albanian drug lord.

Investigations are being carried out by Piraeus Security, while the main lead is related to conflicts between criminal gangs and drug trafficking, especially for control of territories in Athens.

Jani Alia had a serious criminal past. In 2000, in Tepelena, he stabbed a 20-year-old man to death, an event that sparked a chain of revenge attacks.

In 2016, Alia executed Elton Çiço with a gun in a bar in the former Blloku area of ??Tirana, a murder for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

He was arrested in Athens on December 31, 2024 for other legal problems with Greek authorities.

On the other hand, the profile of the suspected perpetrator is also serious. The 28-year-old Greek is accused of two murders: one committed a few months ago in the Agios Panteleimonas area of ??Athens, where he executed an Albanian citizen with a firearm, and the second one that took place today in Koridallos prison.

Police sources indicate that the victim had been released from prison a few weeks ago and had returned, a fact that may be related to the motive for the murder.

Greek authorities are investigating whether the execution was a hidden message from Albanian criminal networks, linked to disrupting drug deals or territorial domination.

Who is Jani Aliaj?

Aliaj was declared an international wanted man after, on May 1, 2016, he killed Elton Çiço in a bar in the former Blloku area.

The clashes began after he stabbed E. Ballazhiu, a childhood friend of Çiço, to death in 2000. After that, Çiço sought to find his friend's killer, and after learning that he was killed by the 47-year-old, he sent him a message in prison that he would take revenge for Ballazhiu's murder.

In 2015, the robbery and rape of Eltin Çiço's parents was reported in Tepelena, an event that was directly linked to his criminal rivals.

The event was not considered a coincidence, on the contrary, it was a message to Çiço, to continue the saga of revenge among the gangs. Suspected of being involved in this event is Erigels Mihasi, a close associate of Ervis Martinaj. 

At the time, Aliaj was 23 years old and was being held in custody in Greece. Elton Çiço was also arrested by the Greek police and served 3 years in prison in Korydhalos.

But, ironically, they were in the same prison, Alia sentenced to 18 years for murder, while Çiço to 5 years for drug trafficking.

But after they get out of prison, clashes begin between them. In 2016, Elton attempts to kill Jani on January 10 on "Kavajës" street in Tirana.

But, from this assassination only a passerby is injured. But, Ciço did not stop there, he tries again to kill Ali, this time in Gjirokastër, where the latter was slightly wounded in the hand. After that, Aliaj in collaboration with Renato Miloš executes with two bullets, Ciço while he was in a bar.

After this, the victim's friends, including Andi Mustafaraj, sought revenge. But the same scheme was followed against Mustafaraj, but the assassination attempt against him failed and he was injured.

The incident took place in the area of ??the former Exhibition in Tirana. But the clashes did not stop there, on August 21, 2016, Nelgert Pata, who was a friend and collaborator of Jani Aliaj, was shot dead.
