The Special Court Against Organized Crime and Corruption has asked the Prosecutor's Office to also direct the investigations to the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqja and the former Minister of Finance, Shkëlqim Cani, regarding the sterilization concession. This is the first time that GJKKO asks SPAK for further investigations for other officials.

Judge Erjon Bani suggested to SPAK prosecutor, Edvin Kondilli, to start the investigations and also take the former Minister of Health Ilir Beqja and the former Minister of Finance Shkëlqim Cani as defendants. But the prosecutor has so far rejected this suggestion.

The prosecution issued arrest warrants for the former Deputy Minister of Health Klodjan Rrjepaj, as well as the businessman Ilir Rrapaj, the winner of the tender, accused of fraud with serious consequences. The decision on the already executed arrest measures was taken on June 23.

Other involved officials are Marsela Seriani and Saimir Kadiu, who were placed under house arrest for abuse of office. As for the head of surgery, the rector of the University of Medicine Arben Gjata, Naile Abazi, Gent Burazeri and Pertref Mersini, compulsory attendance measures were imposed.

The court also ordered the sterilization concession contract to be declared invalid because, according to it, it was undertaken in an open conflict of interest, while the businessman Ilir Rrapaj is acquainted with the former Deputy Minister of Health Klodian Rrjepaj and the former Minister of Health Ilir Beqja.

A year ago, the former Minister of Health gave his statements to SPAK for 9 hours in a row as a person with knowledge. Meanwhile, in recent weeks, the other former Minister of Finance, Anila Denaj, was at the doors of the special structure against crime and corruption of high officials.
