The Court of Appeal with General Jurisdiction has left in force the security measure "prison arrest" for the former member of the KLA, Dritan Goxhaj. Goxhaj claimed before the court that he defended his country, Kosovo, with "heart and pen".
"I have not committed any violation of the law, but you are extraditing me to please Serbia", he is reported to have said before the jury.
His lawyer has taken the same position, claiming that Goxhaj's arrest is entirely political.
The Hague Court has requested the extradition of the former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army as the latter is accused of threatening the witnesses of the Kosovo war not to speak about the trial being held in The Hague.
Dritan Goxhaj is the son of the former deputy chief of staff of the KLA and the well-known colonel from Albania, Dilaver Goxhaj. Colonel Goxhaj voluntarily joined the war in Kosovo. Then his son also joined the KLA as an officer of the Albanian Army. He had the authorization of the General Staff to maintain contact with the Command of American Forces in Albania.
