The head of the Joint Movement, Arlind Qori, has called on pensioners to continue their protests, inspiring the whole society.
From the protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office, Qori said that it may seem paradoxical, but today pensioners are the country's greatest hope.
He took some examples from the region about pensions, as he further said that in Italy the MP's salary is 10 times the minimum pension, while in Albania the MP's salary is 41 times higher.
" Edi Rama's government justifies itself that there is no money for you pensioners. The same government the other day boasts that the GDP has doubled in these 11 years. Then your pensions should have been doubled, but they are remembered only for the poor indexation. They boast that Albania has earned 4 billion euros from tourism. Less than 1 billion euros from tourism would be enough for the pension to increase. The same government that justifies that it has no money, the first year with full consensus doubled the salaries of deputies, ministers, the prime minister, the president. In developed Italy, the MP's salary is 10 times the minimum pension. Do you know how much it is in Albania 41 times higher than the minimum pension. We have a government that says we have no money and we are not Germany and Switzerland, we could not become like Germany and Switzerland tomorrow, but like the countries of the region. Kosovo has a pension of 228 euros, Bosnia 340, Macedonia 405 euros, Serbia 440 euros, Montenegro 450 euros. How is it possible that our neighbors have pensions several times higher than ours? Because we have one of the most corrupt and incompetent governments in the region and the whole world ," Qori declared.
He said that the pensioners' protest has put Prime Minister Edi Rama in difficulty.
" You nailed Edi Rama with this protest. Edi Rama has never been in so much trouble since the student protest. He talks about pensions every day, he has released ministers, deputies, patrons. What 30 thousand students achieved, you have achieved here. Disturb Edi Rama. Don't stop brothers and sisters. Migjeni says, oh, why don't I have a powerful fist to hit the heart of the mountain that doesn't fall. We are not alone like the poet in 1930, we are together, we are the powerful fist that will fall on the mountain of corruption and injustice. Don't stop, keep inspiring a whole nation. It is rare in human history that pensioners become the locomotive of society. It may seem paradoxical, but you are the greatest hope that Albania has today ", said Qori.
