Iranian intelligence says it has dismantled several "terrorist cells" of the Mujahideen group operating inside Iranian territory.
In a statement to the media this Tuesday, the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence said that "operational cells of subversives linked to the MKO have been destroyed in the provinces of Tehran, Isfahan and Kurdistan".
According to the ministry's statement, these "cells" were involved "in terrorist activities and several mortar attacks on administrative, military, police and residential centers of Iran, causing damage and inciting terror and insecurity."
The Iranian Ministry of Intelligence said that all these "terrorist activities were directed directly from the European base of the MKO terrorist group located in Albania."
The statement further states that weapons and equipment used by those arrested in terrorist operations have been confiscated, including mortars, grenades, improvised grenade materials and equipment, pistols and Molotov cocktails.
We remind you that for several weeks Iran has been engulfed by mass protests demanding the removal of the current regime. The police have killed over 300 protesters, mostly boys and girls, while the government has blamed Western countries for instigating the protests.
