The Council for Regulation, Immunity and Mandates will meet again today after SPAK's request for the arrest of former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj. The meeting will take place at 16:00.

We recall that the Council of Mandates met on Tuesday and held four hours of discussions. Arben Ahmetaj was not present, but his two defense lawyers faced SPAK's request for authorization for his arrest.

The lawyers asked for more time to review the file received by the prosecutors of the Special Prosecution. The lawyers informed the council that Ahmetaj is not in Albania, but assured that he is not on the run. However, they did not reveal where it is specifically.

During this meeting there were debates between the opposition and the majority. Opponents said that postponing the meeting is a tactic to give Ahmetaj time to hide. Also, they requested that the meeting be open to the media.

Within Wednesday, the Council for Regulation, Immunity and Mandates must draft the report related to SPAK's request and most likely in a special session, the Assembly will decide whether to authorize the Special Anti-Corruption Structure to arrest Arben Ahmetaj .

The Special Prosecutor's Office asks the Assembly to pave the way for the arrest and control of the apartment of former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, who is being investigated for three charges of "non-declaration, false declaration and concealment of assets", alone and in collaboration, "Corruption liability of high state functionaries or local elected officials" in six cases, as well as "Cleaning the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity".
