Former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, has been urgently hospitalized since Saturday at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center in Tirana, after his health condition deteriorated.

It is reported that Beqaj was admitted to the hospital with a high fever and a severe skin infection, while his condition remains unstable.

Ilir Beqaj has been in Durrës detention for more than a year, where he is being held in the context of the "SASPAC" file related to the abuse of foreign donations in healthcare. In parallel, he is facing another criminal trial in court regarding the sterilization issue, for which he is being tried in ordinary procedure.
