39-year-old man arrested in Greece on charges of attempted murder, extradition awaited (NAME)

A 39-year-old man who attempted to kill a person in Korça has been arrested in Greece.

Deni Mecolli alias Denis Mecolli is expected to be extradited to our country.

The arrested man stabbed Ergys Shtylla on February 4 of this year.

Police announcement:

As a result of the cooperation of the State Police structures with their counterparts in Greece, within the framework of the coded operation "The Wanted", for the provision and exchange of information on the location of citizens under international search, the localization in Greece, capture and arrest for the purpose of extradition to Albania, of the citizen:

DM alias DM, 39 years old.

This citizen was declared internationally wanted after the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Korça, with the decision dated 09.02.2025, assigned him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offense of "Intentional Murder", which remained in the attempted stage.

Citizen DM is accused of having attempted to kill citizen E. Sh., 40 years old, on 04.02.2025, in the city of Korça, by hitting him with a cutting tool (knife).

Interpol Tirana and Interpol Athens will carry out the procedures for the extradition of this citizen to Albania.
