Tax authorities have launched an operation to seize agricultural and livestock products sold without invoices. In the coastal city of Saranda, traders in the fruit and vegetable market who sell medicinal plants have also been part of the strict controls.

A moment from this action went viral on the internet. The Director of Agriculture in the Municipality of Saranda, Mr. Muçi as Bardha calls him, one of the city's oldest merchants, was the main protagonist.

Using his state employee identification, Muçi demanded an account from the woman for the oregano she had collected in the mountains. He asked the merchant to mark on the oregano package the name of the producer of the product she was selling.

The merchant's answer is spontaneous, 'the mountain.' She has been selling plants in the Saranda market for years, which she collects herself in the mountains to support her family.

But, despite this answer, the director tells her that this is not how it works and that every product must have the ethics of the producer and must be sold with a tax coupon. "What are you talking about, my Muçi," the saleswoman says to the director who has come to the field for inspections, emphasizing that they are natural products.

Part of the conversation between them

Director: Producer

Merchant: Mali

Director: That's not how it works.

Merchant: I gathered them in the mountains, what are you talking about, my Muçi? May Bardha be sacrificed, they are things of nature. It is known that they cannot be anything else.
