Tragic details have emerged from the serious incident that occurred in Fushë-Mamurras, where it was said that 57-year-old Violeta Shpani stabbed her 85-year-old mother to death.

Following reports from numerous media outlets, there was an immediate reaction from family members.

In reactions made to JOQ Albania, family members have stated that Violeta Shpani had been suffering from mental health problems for years, while emphasizing that she was not capable of organizing and committing such a crime alone. Let alone hiding the traces of the crime, as the event was reported.

Family relatives have stated that her son and his wife lived near the 85-year-old's apartment.

They state that the relationship between them was not good, revealing previous episodes of violence against their mother and sister, which also caused them to break limbs.

Their statements raise suspicions that the old woman's son or daughter-in-law may have had a hand in her murder.

Consequently, they request that the investigations not be limited to just one lead, namely that the perpetrator of the incident is the family's daughter, but that all circumstances and persons who may have been related to the incident be verified.

Other suspicions stem from the funeral ceremony that took place. According to them, the ceremony was held according to the traditions of the Mirdita region, where preparations for burial require time and the commitment of several people.

Thus, they emphasize that a person suffering from mental health problems (such as the daughter of the house who is accused of killing her mother) would find it impossible to carry out all the actions alone.

Family members also report that they were notified of the 85-year-old's death around 2:00 PM, while the event is suspected to have occurred in the early hours of the morning.

Yesterday, the Lezha Police announced that Violeta Shpani has been arrested as the main suspect in the murder of her mother, and that criminal proceedings have been initiated against the hospital doctor who reported the elderly woman's death as an event of natural causes.
