ARRSH opens the procedure, 6 pedestrian overpasses will be built on the Tirana-Durrës highway

The Albanian Road Authority has launched the new phase of the Tirana-Durres highway project, focusing on improving access and safety for residents living along the road axis.

After the road widening was completed, procedures have already begun for the construction of six pedestrian overpasses, which will enable safer and easier crossing for people who need to cross the highway.

These overpasses will be part of a broader package of works, which includes not only their construction, but also the installation of a lighting system, the greening of the surrounding areas, the installation of acoustic barriers and several other complementary interventions, aimed at improving the overall quality of the road axis.

According to the Albanian Road Authority's plan, overpasses will be placed at certain points along the first kilometers of the highway.

The first overpass will be built behind the VEKO Group facility, while the second will be built about 50 meters behind Polis University, creating safe access for residents of the Yrshek area. The third overpass will be a few meters behind QTU, the fourth near BRUNES, the fifth about 100 meters before the FedEx Albania facility, while the sixth will be located near Autostar.

The tender procedure for the construction of these overpasses is expected to close on June 15, and after the announcement of the winner, works will begin immediately on the ground. The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, during an inspection in the area, emphasized that one of the main objectives of the project is to ensure easy and safe access for residents living along the highway.

According to him, the overpasses will facilitate pedestrian movement, reduce the risk of accidents and contribute to better traffic organization along one of the most important axes of the country. The construction of these overpasses is expected to significantly improve the daily lives of residents and bring a higher standard of safety and access for residents living near the highway.
