Cocaine Trafficking Group

Cars filled with cocaine crossed Belgium and the Netherlands and then the roads of northern Italy. This is how the "Brescia Today" newspaper begins its article, which refers to the crackdown on an Albanian criminal drug-trafficking group.

A total of 18 people ended up in handcuffs and 11 kilograms of cocaine worth 800,000 Euros, 1 kilogram of marijuana and about 50,000 Euros of cash were seized.

According to the carabinieri, this group recently trafficked another 20 kg of cocaine. About 2.5 million Euros were profited from the retail sale.

The drugs were bought in Belgium and the Netherlands and then transported by car to northern Italy. At the head of the group were two Albanian brothers, 25 and 27 years old, who lived in Fiesole, Florence. The Italian media write that they had set up a base in Tuscany, from where the drugs were distributed.

The investigations started a few months ago, when two Albanian couples were caught in Breno with 500 grams of cocaine, while the decisive action of the police was carried out this weekend.

Special forces handcuffed the courier in the Brescia area, who was transporting the drugs to Florence. Under the back seat of the vehicle, 10 kilograms of cocaine were found hidden in a separate compartment, which could only be opened via a button located under the car's headliner. The two Albanian brothers who were following the transport of this load also ended up in handcuffs.

In total, 18 people were arrested and sentenced to prison.
