Migrants at the Gjadri center in Albania will return to Italy this Saturday, following the decision of the Rome Court of Appeal on Friday.
Judges suspended the detention of 43 Bangladeshi and Egyptian citizens sent to Gjadra, postponing the next decision of the European Court of Justice on safe places.
The effect of this decision is that the asylum seekers will be returned to Italy and released.
The return is scheduled for tonight, February 1, and will be carried out with coast guard vessels.
" There is great surprise, because in our opinion there is no need to wait for the decision of the European Court of Justice ," government sources told ANSA, commenting on the invalidation of the detention of immigrants who had been sent to Albania.
At the Gjadri center, of the 49 migrants who arrived on Tuesday, 43 remained there, as six of them were transferred back to Italy because they were minors or vulnerable and therefore not eligible for the accelerated asylum procedure.
