A package of explosives was found, suspected to have been thrown by Mikelian

Police have found a package containing suspected explosives in the "3 Heronjtë" neighborhood in Shkodra.

According to the police, the package is suspected to have been dropped by Mikelian Toma and David Simoni on March 26, the day of their arrest.

"Following the information provided on 26.03.2025, regarding the arrest of citizens MT and DS, who did not obey the Police order to stop the motorcycle they were driving, with stolen license plates and a changed chassis number, we would like to inform you that from the checks carried out following the investigative actions in this case, yesterday, in the "3 Heronjtë" neighborhood, a package with suspected explosive material was found, which is suspected to have been thrown there by these citizens, on 26.03.2025. The package was seized as material evidence ," the police announced.

The two young men were arrested on March 26, after during a patrol, blue uniforms noticed the motorcycle in which Mikelian Toma and David Simoni were traveling in the "Ndoc Mazi" neighborhood that was moving at high speed and signaled them to stop. However, 32-year-old Mikelian Toma, who was driving the motorcycle, and 34-year-old David Simoni, a passenger, did not obey the police order and drove away.

Police services pursued and stopped the vehicle, placing the two young men in handcuffs.

From the verifications carried out, it is suspected that the license plate of the motorcycle they were traveling in was stolen in Tirana and the chassis number of the motorcycle had been changed.

On the day of the arrest of the two young men, the police conducted searches in the vehicles of Mikelian Toma and David Simoni, where a fuel canister, a silencer and a quantity of cocaine were found.

Meanwhile, 3 days after their arrest, on March 29, the police reported that 32-year-old Mikelian Toma was in use of another apartment in the village of Dajç, whose owner, a citizen with the initials GV, is a resident of Italy.

During the search of this apartment, 2 firearms, rifles and combat ammunition were found and seized as material evidence, which were allegedly provided and held by Mikelian Toma.

The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Shkodra Police Commissariat, following the investigative actions regarding the arrest of two citizens MT and DS, who were arrested on 26.03.2025, for the criminal offenses "Production and sale of narcotics", "Disobedience to the order of a public order police officer" and "Theft", committed in collaboration, after they did not obey the Police order to stop the stolen motor vehicle they were driving, have provided information that one of the arrested citizens also had another apartment in use.

The investigations revealed that citizen MT was using the apartment of citizen GV, in the village of Dajç (the owner of the apartment, resident in Italy).

From the search carried out in this apartment, the Crime Investigation Specialists of the Shkodra Police Commissariat found and seized as material evidence, 2 firearms, rifles and combat ammunition, which were allegedly obtained and kept by the arrested citizen MT.

The materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Shkodra for the criminal offenses of "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".
