Albanian law-enforcement agencies in cooperation with the immigration department of the state police, for more than a month, have brought to the closed center for foreigners in Karreç, several former members of the Iranian opposition.

A government source inside this development said that "For reasons of national security, for more than a month in the reception center for immigrants in Karreç, some of the people who voluntarily broke away from the MEK" are being held.

It is learned that after consultations with partners, it was concluded that there are circumstances and information that these people were being used by Iran against the MEK.

Hassan Hyerani is one of the five Iranians being held in Karreç. He has gone on a hunger strike. So the Albanian law-enforcement authorities are investigating a recent attempt by Iran to spread false information in Albania, regarding the detention of the five.

In such conditions, it has been assessed that the former members of the MEK, grouped in an association, posed a risk to national security.

SPAK, on ​​account of an investigation, issued 12 house and office search warrants for persons dismissed from the MEK.

The offices of the ASILA association headed by Hassan Hyerani were part of the checks.

Since July, SPAK has been actively investigating 20 Iranians, former MEK members, under suspicion of espionage in the service of the Iranian regime.
