Doctor Ilir Allkja has reacted again after comments criticizing his statement that "he too had received a tip".
The doctor comments for Vox News and clarifies that the tip he receives is different from the bribery he condemns, as it is illegal.
" For the anachronistic commenters I want to clarify that:
#Bakshishi, Albanian gift is one of the most widespread phenomena in Albania and around the world. Different people express gratitude for a help, deed or support at a given moment through a gift.
This also happens in medicine. Patients or patients' family members, after recovery, prepare a gift for the doctor who served you. This gift is neither necessary nor required.
Those who deny it are simply hypocrites.
#Bribery is the conditional provision of medical service, of solving a problem in the administration, the police, justice in the courts, etc. This is illegal, immoral, it is criminal, I have condemned it and I condemn it!
I have stated that I have received gifts (tips) and I have emphasized that I have received such gifts from my family members, cousins or friends for services that I have performed outside the institutions where I have worked, in their homes, and for this I do not feel ashamed because the gifts (so the tip) was without my request and at a distance after the service.
The destruction of doctor-patient trust, in addition to black doctors, marketers, also has the contribution of the media, cynical journalists, who for a few more clicks throw everything on the "table" of the sadists of the network, distorting the truth !", he says.
