The People's Advocate, Endrit Shabani, has reacted after the attack he was subjected to this morning, while he was in a bar with his parents.
He says he knows the person who attacked him, and he was even a high school friend.
"Yesterday, the chairman of the Albania Becomes Party attacked me again (for a year now), manipulating a video where I greeted two MPs. As the People's Advocate, I report every month to the Parliament and I have an institutional obligation to cooperate with all MPs, regardless of party.
But even before, I have never believed that an opponent should be treated as an enemy, to the point of not shaking hands. I am convinced that even Adriatiku, who appeared in a video himself laughing at the same MPs, knows this well.
Today, Mevlan Mata, an activist of the same party, came with a cameraman under the building where I live, to film me insulting me, while I was drinking coffee with my parents. I have known Mevlan since high school and I am sorry that he has to give such signs of loyalty to the party.
"I accept criticism of me, as long as I have chosen a public office. But my elderly parents do not deserve to be involved in such scenes, because they are not part of any political debate and have no public responsibility. I firmly believe that the home and family of every Albanian should remain inviolable, therefore this line should not be crossed," he says in his reaction.
