Two 20-year-old men have been arrested by the Police in Gjirokastra after they were caught transporting, for payment, four immigrants who had illegally entered Albania from the border with Greece.

As part of the police operation codenamed "Long Wait", LA and LB, both residents of Bulqiza, were arrested. They were stopped on the Gjirokastër-Tepelena road, in a place called "Uji i Ftohtë", while traveling in a "Volkswagen" type vehicle.

According to the Police, the two young men did not obey the order of the blue uniforms to stop. During the intervention, the vehicle and two mobile phones were seized, which will serve as material evidence.

 

The two 20-year-olds are accused of the criminal offenses of “Aid for illegal border crossing” and “Disobedience to the order of a police officer.” The procedural materials have been referred to the Gjirokastra Prosecutor's Office for further action.
