Mynevere Karabollaj (Myrtaj), or Vera as she was called by friends, 37-year-old who was killed on Monday morning by her ex-husband in Italy, left her husband three years ago. She worked as a beautician at home so that the two daughters did not miss anything.

She separated from her husband three years ago and lived with her two daughters in Spinea (Venice). For a year and a half she had a new partner. A relationship that may have caused the jealousy of the ex who killed them both on Sunday, November 20. The victims are 37-year-old Vera Myrtaj and 23-year-old Flonino Merkuri.

Vera Myrtaj had come to Italy, from Greece, about eight years ago; apparently at the suggestion of two brothers who had been working on the Peninsula for some time. Immediately after that, the woman was joined by her ex-husband, who had requested a reunion. In 2016, the two had moved to Spinea, where they had lived in a large house in via Leopardi. A house in which thousands of euros had been invested over the years to adapt it to the needs of their youngest 13-year-old daughter, with disabilities in a wheelchair.

Initially, according to some neighbors, the couple seems to have been careless. Then the first problems, which became more and more serious. He would have repeatedly raised his hands to the woman who had finally found the strength to leave him and start a new life. Vera Myrtaj therefore rolled up her sleeves, working even more than before in various hotels in the historic center of Venice. However, Covid - and the closure of various structures in the most difficult months of the pandemic - had messed up her plans, forcing her to 'reinvent' herself. In order not to let her two daughters - 13 and 15 years old - lack something, she started to be a beautician at home: nails, hair.

She had managed to build up a large circle of customers, some of whom were attached to the thirty-seven-year-old, who never denied a smile.

"This morning I found out what happened - says Michaela, a customer - she had an appointment with her today, but she didn't answer and that's how I came here. I am shocked: she was an angel, she did not deserve all this. She has never spoken about her ex-husband, but always and only about her two daughters. He always repeated, "They are everything to me."
