Several people were shot outside the regional court in Bielefeld, Germany, where a court hearing was taking place for the murder of Albanian boxer from Mitrovica, Besar Nimani.

According to local newspapers, at least two people were injured in the shooting, one of them seriously. Two people are suspected of being responsible for the shooting, one of whom was arrested by police while the other barricaded himself inside a building.

According to Bild, the injured include the father and brother of a defendant in the trial for the murder of boxer Besar Nimani. One was shot in the leg, while another was reportedly seriously wounded by a bullet to the chest and was resuscitated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

According to an initial reconstruction, a man fired shots from a sidewalk, then got into a car and fired several shots from inside. Multiple police forces, including special rapid response teams, are at the scene and have launched a large-scale operation, cordoning off the area.

The gunfire also trapped students and teachers at a high school near the courthouse, who had to barricade themselves in their classrooms for safety reasons. Heavily armed police have cordoned off the area, urging everyone to avoid the area. Authorities confirmed a large-scale operation was underway and that one person had been arrested. A second person is also wanted, who may have barricaded himself in a building near the district courthouse.
