Serious accident on the Korça-Ersekë axis, a car hits and kills a 3-year-old child

A serious accident occurred this afternoon near the village of Kamenicë on the Korça-Ersekë axis.

An SUV hit a 3-year-old child, who died at the Korça regional hospital.

According to the police, the child was traveling on the national highway when he was hit by the vehicle, which was traveling from Korça towards Qafë e Qarrit.

At the time of the accident, it is learned that the child was accompanied by his mother.

The driver of the vehicle attempted to avoid colliding with the 3-year-old and ended up on the other side of the road.

The police are investigating the causes of this accident, while the driver of the vehicle is at the Korça police station where he is being questioned to further clarify the dynamics of this accident.

Korça/Preliminary information

At around 16:30, on the Korça-Ersekë road, in the village of Kamenicë, a "Nissan" vehicle, driven by citizen Sh. V., 76 years old, hit two pedestrians (mother and son), citizen Sh. M., about 44 years old, and her minor son, about 3 years old.

As a result of the accident, the minor child died in the hospital, while citizen Sh. M is receiving medical assistance, out of danger to her life.

Specialists from the Road Traffic Sector accompanied the driver of the vehicle, citizen Sh. V., to the Police Station for the performance of procedural actions.

The investigation team is at the scene and is working to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
