Nurse Aurona Pelaj, who went viral and caused great outrage in 2022 when she appeared in a video raping the elderly woman Minire Nura, will serve 2 years and 3 months in prison.

Today, it was learned that the Basic Court of Peja has announced the verdict for Pelaj, for which it sentenced him to 2 years in prison.

The sentence handed down by the court states that the time spent in detention, from November 2, 2022 to November 24, 2022, will also be counted, while the remaining part of the sentence will be executed after the verdict in question becomes final.

The verdict also states that the Court has banned Aurona Pelaj from practicing the nursing profession for a period of 5 years.

Meanwhile, the defendant, nurse Altina Rexhepi, who appeared in the viral video holding the elderly woman's hands as Pelaj raped her, has been acquitted of the charges.

As previously reported by newsbomb.al, the elderly woman who was raped by Nurse Pelaj at the "Orenda" nursing home closed her eyes forever two years ago, on May 31, 2024.

The sad news was confirmed at the time by the deceased's lawyer.

"I can confirm that he has passed away,"  he said, without giving further details on the cause of death.
