The regional network of journalists Safejournalists, a project financed and supported by the European Commission, which includes the associations of journalists in the region, also reacted to the violence against the journalist Adriatik Doçi near his apartment.
The representative of "Safejournalists" in Albania, Blerjana Bino, said that it is essential that the authorities quickly investigate the case and bring to justice the author or authors of the attack.
"In Albania, we need better protective measures for attacked journalists", Bino emphasized.
The SafeJournalists network, representing more than 8,200 media professionals in the Western Balkans, condemns physical violence and emphasizes that journalistic work should never be a reason for an attack against a journalist. It also calls on the competent authorities to timely identify and adequately sanction the perpetrators.
The attack on Doçi was also condemned by the Union of Albanian Journalists, which called it a barbaric act and demanded the fastest reaction of the law enforcement authorities.
The violence against the journalist Adriatik Doçi happened near his apartment in Kamëz at noon on Sunday, November 13, when an unidentified person punched him. It is suspected that the attack happened because of his duty.
