The civic protest against the government and tourism projects in Zvërnec and Sazan has entered its 17th day today, continuing one of the longest mobilizations in Albania's history.

Citizens began gathering as usual at Skanderbeg Square, then continued towards the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard and the Prime Minister's Office building, where daily speeches and rallies have been taking place for more than two weeks.

One of the most unique characteristics of this movement has been the continued participation of families and young children, who have become part of the marches and nightly rallies.

Organizers announced that starting Wednesday, the protest will take place at 7:00 PM, changing the previous gathering time.

The initiator of the protest, Alben Kola, stated that this evening there will be no speeches from the organizers or public figures, but only from young people.

The movement has continued every day for more than two weeks, while the organizers have described it as a civic and non-partisan protest.

In recent days, the marches have been accompanied by strong public debates, especially after the blockade of the Tirana-Durres highway and the axis towards the "Mother Teresa" International Airport.

Meanwhile, the debate over the projects in Sazan and Zvërnec has also reached the European level.

Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos recently stated that the European Commission has received guarantees from the Albanian government that the project will undergo a full environmental assessment and that European standards will be respected, while Prime Minister Edi Rama stressed that Brussels has been informed in detail about all the procedures followed.

It was precisely this statement by Commissioner Kos that was mocked by protesters with banners.
