The resignation of the rector of the University of Shkodra "Luigj Gurakuqi", Tonin Gjuraj, has also brought reactions within the ranks of the Socialist Party.

The SP MP for Shkodra, Marjana Koçeku, expressed her regret over Gjuraj's departure, describing him as one of the people who loved the University of Shkodra the most and praising his integrity and dedication in leading the institution.

"I have known few people who loved the University of Shkodra as much as Prof. Dr. Tonin Gjuraj.

Therefore, the news of his resignation makes me feel sorry for my city.

At a time when universities need personalities with integrity, vision, and courage, his departure could be considered a bad development.

It is not up to me to comment on the reasons for this decision. But it is up to me to express my highest respect for a professor who has served education, Shkodra, and students with seriousness and dedication.

"This decision needs institutional reflection by the university, more than ever ," writes Koçeku.

The reaction takes on special political weight due to the fact that Tonin Gjuraj was previously a member of parliament for the Democratic Party, while today his support comes from a representative of the socialist majority.

In his resignation letter to the Minister of Education, Gjuraj argues that his decision is related to disagreements with the university's Board of Administration.

He accuses the board of unilateral decision-making, legal violations, and interference that, according to him, violate university autonomy and hinder the institution's development processes.

The rector's resignation comes after only two years at the helm of the University of Shkodra, while the debate over university autonomy and the role of administrative boards is expected to return to the spotlight.
