The Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla consoled the family of the deputy commissioner, Arben Pjeçi, who killed himself in the Durrës police station a few days ago.
Balla underlined that the General Director of Police is doing its own verifications and AMP is doing its own verifications for this event.
"From that first moment, together with the General Director, we have done all our verifications, both as a colleague and as a citizen, as to who are the reasons that led to that decision. To be honest, it did not give us the opportunity to consider a complaint from him, either because the State Police was obliged to implement a court decision.
But we need a greater care and a more open and friendlier communication with every police officer at all levels to actually understand other problems, which are probably not related to the work of the police, and a different approach to the service with a psychologist.
Never forget, Police officers are the ones who never even have a schedule and it is up to me to put an end to the story of non-payment of overtime hours. We have made a first solution for the payment of food, finally, but we have to give other solutions.
Remember that Police officers are the first to be called for any type of problem. When there is a fire, when it rains, when there is a flood and other problems, the State Police is the first to arrive," said Balla.
Serious Crime Specialist, Arben Pjeçi, committed suicide at noon on Thursday inside the premises of the Durrës Police Station. The father of two, with a long 35-year career in the police force, allegedly ended his life in severe psychological conditions, because there was a decision to remove him from duty, this because of his involvement in a fight
A special investigative group has been set up for the serious incident, under the direction of the Durres Prosecutor's Office and officers of the Judicial Police of the Prosecutor's Office.
