The case of the German tourist in Ksamil, who faced a hefty commission fee during a simple transaction at an FI Bank ATM, appears to be not the only one.
The tourist made a withdrawal of 400 euros at an FI Bank ATM , but with a commission of 75.80 euros, or about 19% of the amount withdrawn.
The situation seems to have become a worrying daily occurrence for local businesses, which are facing constant dissatisfaction from tourists.
A hotelier in Ksamil has reacted after the sensational case of the German citizen, who denounced the high ATM commissions in the area.

The hotel has shared an invoice dated July 20, 2025, issued by FI Bank, showing a withdrawal of 500 thousand old lek from a Dutch tourist, for which 94 euros were withheld for conversion and another 800 lek as an additional commission.
"I saw the case of that German in Ksamil. I have a hotel in Ksamil and I face such cases every day. And these ATMs are harming our tourism a lot, because of the terrible commissions they charge. This is an invoice from FI Bank, from one of my clients, dated July 20 this year. For a withdrawal of 500 thousand old lek, they charged €94 in conversion + 800 lek in commission. This client has been out of the hotel for two weeks now, but from the complaint he made about the ATMs, I took a photo of the invoice so I could have it, because we have daily cases. The client was Dutch. Seeing the post, I got the reason to write to you," the whistleblower writes for JOQ.
