Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, in an interview with DW, spoke about the opening of the final chapter of negotiations with Albania.
Among other things, Kos was also asked about SPAK's investigations into Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku and the escape of former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj.
Kos said that she is "not happy to hear about these cases," but stressed that this is a step forward since these issues have been revealed, as it shows that anti-corruption institutions are working.
DW: You mentioned SPAK, you also mentioned public procurement. All of this brings to mind the case of the current deputy prime minister who is under investigation. There is also a former deputy prime minister on the run. In both cases we have high-level corruption.
Marta Kos : For me it is a step forward that these issues have been revealed. I am not happy to hear these cases. The same applies to Ukraine, but this shows that the anti-corruption institutions are working. As I said before, we also have corruption cases within the European Union.
