800 tons of hazardous waste from Albania to Thailand, the Customs Directorate reacts: We are verifying

The Customs Directorate reacted after news that about 800 tons of hazardous metallurgical waste were allegedly started from the Port of Durres towards Thailand.

In the official reaction, the Customs Directorate announces that in the framework of cooperation with WCO and on the basis of information exchanged with the Basel Convention and OLAF, they have identified a suspicious cargo, which was started from the Port of Durres and made the transshipment to Trieste and Piraeus.

"DPD, OLAF and other structures involved are actively cooperating to locate the cargo during transport and to verify whether the cargo is waste," the statement said.
