The Spanish Civil Guard has arrested two people for carrying out around 50 robberies on the islands of Ibiza and Mallorca in the last two years.
The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at 2 million euros, which includes more than 20 luxury watches and numerous jewels.
Those arrested of Albanian origin selected victims with high purchasing power living in the Balearic Islands.
They usually picked them off as they left posh restaurants and exclusive beaches, even going so far as to tag their vehicles with GPS devices to identify the homes they lived in and where they were robbed.
Then, while the victims slept, the thieves broke into their homes and stole mostly high-end jewelry and watches, which were sent to the black market via third parties.
