"3 million messages per day"/ What are Sky and Encro Chat platforms?

Besfort Lamallari, deputy minister of the interior, explained in "Our Day" what the Sky and Encro Chat platforms are.

"They are platforms originally created to provide anonymity and security of the information exchanged, for those people who at a certain moment had problems with the police. First came Encro Chat, but with its hack, the vast majority of users switched to Sky. These are very high paying. Encro Chat was estimated to have around 60,000 users, while Sky around 170,000. There were 3 million messages per day on Encro alone. What happened is that in June of this year, the authorities processed 150 million messages. It is about coded messages that are difficult to understand ", explained Lamallari.

According to him, Albania is one of the countries that immediately took measures with the self-declaration forms, where the policemen have 30 days to show what mobile phone they used.

" The use of these platforms has not had legal regulation in the EU countries, it has only started now. But what is important to understand is that every police officer must declare the phone he uses. If there is a used phone that is not declared on the form, it means that there is incomplete information. This constitutes a false statement and grounds for prosecution. Those who declare the use of such platforms should say why they used it. If you know someone who uses these platforms, you should stay away from them. They are expensive platforms, it is not justified to use them for small whims. Encro costs 1,000 euros and a 6-month subscription costs 1,500 euros ," the deputy minister further emphasized.
