Former MP Myslim Murrizi commented today on President Bajram Begaj's decision to decree the country's new territorial map, which structures municipalities by reducing their number from the current 61 to 46.

Invited to the show "Albania Live", the democratic politician could not hold back his laughter as presenter Sidorela Gjoni asked him about developments from the president's office.

"He gets engaged after the checkers," said the former MP, emphasizing that the head of state should first decree the new reform that reduces the number of municipalities, and then announce May 9 as the date for local elections.

President Bajram Begaj has been accused by the opposition of decreeing May 9 for local elections, after this date had been previously publicly articulated by senior representatives of the Socialist Party.
