PSG confirms: Mbappe will be absent against Bayern in the Champions League
Kylian Mbappe

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Kylian Mbappe is expected to miss three weeks due to the thigh injury he suffered against Montpellier last night.

The France star had a day to forget as he missed a penalty, then failed to convert the rebound, before limping off the field after just 21 minutes.

After the game, coach Christophe Galtier suggested that he did not believe Mbappe's injury was anything to worry about, but the club have now confirmed how long they expect to be without Mbappe.

"Following examinations, Kylian Mbappe suffers from a left thigh strain at the level of the biceps femoris. His time out of the field is estimated at three weeks", writes PSG.

For PSG, this means they will have to cope without Mbappe for a number of games, including the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Bayern Munich on February 14 at the Parc des Princes ".

Ligue 1 games against Toulouse, Monaco and Lille will also come too soon for Mbappe, who could look to Le Classique against Marseille on February 26 for his comeback.

Before then, however, Mbappe will also miss a French Cup tie against PSG's rivals Marseille on February 8.

On the other hand, Neymar also missed the Montpellier game due to muscle fatigue, but Galtier will be hoping to have the Brazilian available for the big games to come in the coming weeks.
