Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, were laid to rest this Saturday, July 5, after they died in a tragic accident in Spain.
The funeral ceremony before the burial was attended by numerous football figures who had connections with Diogo Jota, both in the Portuguese national team, but also in the clubs where he had played.
What caused a stir was the absence of Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo. The 40-year-old was not present at the funeral of the two former players.
The reason is still unknown, while international media alludes to the Lusitanian being seen on vacation in Mallorca.
The absence of Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah was also noticeable.
Other Portugal players present at the ceremony were Bernardo Silva, Diogo Dalot, Joao Cancelo and Ruben Neves.
Portugal coach Roberto Martinez was also present.
Ronaldo's absence has been widely noted in the Portuguese media. Journalist Antonio Ribeiro Cristovao said that, as captain of the national team, many expected his presence.
