Manuele Baiocchini, Sky Sport's Italian journalist, gave a live update from "Casa Milan" today regarding a hot topic currently troubling the Rossoneri, the ongoing meeting in Rome between Giorgio Furlani, the club's current CEO, and Igli Tare, Lazio's former sporting director.
“There was a meeting in Rome between Giorgio Furlani, Milan’s chief executive, and Igli Tare, former Lazio sporting director. It was a very positive meeting that lasted more than four hours – starting in the late morning and continuing until lunchtime and into the afternoon. During these many hours, a comprehensive discussion took place on what needs to be done to restart and rebuild Milan starting from next season, including the coaching situation. This was not a decisive meeting that led to a final agreement between Tare and Milan. But that was only because it was the first time Giorgio Furlani had met Tare in person. There had been a meeting in early March in London between Ibrahimovic, Cardinale and Tare, which was followed by a telephone contact between Furlani and Tare. Today they met in person for the first time and they matched: Milan appreciated Tare’s mentality and working approach as former Lazio sporting director, and it is likely that the feeling was "mutual - Tare seems enthusiastic about potentially taking on this role," the Italian journalist stated.
The Sky journalist continued to reveal details of the Tare-Milan meeting.
"There will be internal discussions at Milan in the coming hours and days. The decision will be taken by everyone involved in the club's management: Furlani, Ibrahimovic and owner Cardinale, who will have the final say on this decision. From what is emerging, it seems to be heading towards a positive outcome, suggesting that Igli Tare should - or could - be Milan's next sporting director. Of course, a lot of things have happened at Milan recently - unexpected changes and surprises. For example, when we thought that Fabio Paratici could become the new sporting director, everything collapsed. So we remain a little cautious, but everything is pointing towards Tare becoming the new sporting director," he said.
