Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has given an interview to RSI, a podcast hosted by Armando Ceroni. Among the stories he shared, he also spoke about his past at Everton, although he had a passion for the city rival team:

"My dream was to coach Liverpool, but then I found myself at Everton and experienced their rivalry. Now I am absolutely an Everton fan. I really liked the environment, because there is an extraordinary passion for the club's colors. There you also notice the suffering that the fans have in the face of Liverpool, which for many years and still today dominates the Premier League."

Further, on the move to Real Madrid: "Was I surprised when Florentino Pérez called me again? In fact, it was me who called him. A year earlier I had contacted him to see if there were any free players for us, at Everton we had taken James Rodriguez. The following year I knew they were looking for a coach and, when I spoke to the president, I told him they had to get a good one."

Finally, he also spoke about former Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi: "He was a great talent, because he knew how to read situations and break free from cover like no one else. He has scored, I believe, more than 300 goals, but I think that those scored with more than one touch do not exceed 10 percent."

"Carletto" also spoke about his rejection of the Italian national team: "I said no to the Italian national team because I didn't want to... I really like being on the field every day, preparing for training. The national team seemed like a 'part-time' job to me, which would make me lose a little of my passion. For this reason alone, I rejected Italy."
