No team works for him, Pirlo candidate for Belgium: Challenge with Thierry Henry
Andrea Pirlo

After six years as coach of Belgium, Roberto Martinez left the bench of the national team. The elimination in the group stage of the World Cup cost the Spaniard dearly, who resigned from his post. Martinez has now been made official as Portugal coach, but the Belgians are still looking for a coach. The Federation therefore decided to publish a job advertisement to find the ideal candidate. Today, January 10, is the limit beyond which applications can no longer be sent. The requirements that the Belgian Federation has set for the candidates are: serial winners, international experience and expert manager in tactics. Andrea Pirlo is among those who have forwarded their candidacy to the table of the president of the Belgian federation.

The former Juventus coach, currently the tenth in Turkey with Karagumrük, submitted his CV to the federal executive director Peter Bossaert and his associates. Pirlo as a coach won an Italian Cup and an Italian Super Cup with Juventus, in his only year on the bench. Then Juve decided not to confirm it and the 2006 world champion found himself without a team until he found refuge in Turkey.

It seems that the Italian coach is missing one of the basic requirements for getting the job: a serial winner. In fact, apart from the two trophies won on the bench, Pirlo has won nothing else as a coach. Therefore, even though the name of Andrea Pirlo has been evaluated by the leaders of the Belgian Federation, it seems that he is not the favorite to take the coach's place. Another football legend, Thierry Henry, meanwhile, could sit on the Belgian bench. He was Martinez's assistant, but now seeks a starring role. In fact, the former French footballer already knows the environment of the national team and would be a choice appreciated by the players of the national team.
