Prime Minister Edi Rama will gather today the ministers and political leaders of the Socialist Party's regions in a meeting at 09:30.
The meeting comes at an important moment in political developments, following the violent protests that took place a few days ago in Tirana, as well as at a time when the 2027 budget and fiscal package are expected to pass quickly in Parliament.
Today, at 10:00, the Committee on Economy, Employment and Finance will present the draft law "On the 2027 Budget" and the draft laws of the fiscal package, which are as follows:
⦁ Draft law "On some amendments and additions to law no. 61/2012, 'On Excise Duties in the Republic of Albania', as amended".
⦁ Draft law "On some amendments and additions to law no. 92/2014, 'On Value Added Tax in the Republic of Albania', as amended".
⦁ Draft law "On some amendments to law no. 9975, dated 28.7.2008, "On National Taxes", as amended".
⦁ Draft law "On some additions and amendments to law no. 29, dated 30.3.2023, 'On Income Tax', as amended".
⦁ Draft law "On some additions and amendments to law no. 9920, dated 19.5.2008, 'On Tax Procedures in the Republic of Albania', as amended".
Meanwhile, today, at 09:00, representatives of the Socialist Party will hold a meeting with President Bajram Begaj to discuss the date of next year's local elections. Representatives of the Social Democratic Party led by Tom Doshi will also hold a meeting with the President on the date of the elections today, at 11:00.
The election date is announced by the President, 9 months before the end of the current president's term, so November 6 is calculated as the deadline that the electoral code dictates for issuing the election date, which must be a Sunday between April 15 and May 15, 2027.
Begaj's invitation for consultations with political entities on the date of the elections was publicly rejected by the Democratic Party, which, just like in the past elections, will not respond positively to the President. The head of the DP Group, Gazment Bardhi, called the launch of the consultations theater.
So far, none of the other parties have publicly expressed a preferred date, but May is seen as the most suitable month to go to the polls. May 2 is ruled out, as according to the calendar of Official Holidays, it is Orthodox Easter Sunday. The most likely date remains May 9, also known as Europe Day.
