The transfer of Erion Veliaj from Durrës detention center to Fier detention center has opened a hidden theater of clashes within the Socialist Party.

At the center of the debate are the Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu, and two heads of parliamentary committees, Bledi Çuçi and Fatmir Xhafaj.

The two socialist MPs have officially requested clarifications on the procedure followed, the reasons for the transfer of the mayor of Tirana, and the documentation on which the decision of the General Directorate of Prisons was based.

According to Top Channel's reporting, the request was filed on Thursday morning, October 29, at the Presidency of the Assembly and was then forwarded to the Ministry of Justice.

Çuçi and Xhafaj want to know whether the General Directorate of Prisons informed the ministry about the transfer order, which is classified as a state secret. They also want the documentary evidence that accompanied this procedure to be made available.

But in this "clash" the role of the head of the General Directorate of Prisons, Sadleva Bodo, the institution that administers the penitentiary system and from which the decision to transfer Veliaj came, is also interesting.

Sadleva Bodo is known in the corridors of politics as Fatmir Xhafa's confidant.

Bodo has a professional background in the Ministry of Interior and the National Bureau of Investigation (BKH), where she worked for five years as legal advisor to the head of the institution.

From May 2018 to August 2021, she headed the Directorate of European Integration, Coordination, International Agreements and Assistance at the Ministry of Interior. In the first five months of this period, the Minister of Interior was Fatmir Xhafaj.

After leaving the ministry, in August 2021, Bodo joined the BKH (recommended by Xhafaj), where she continued her career as a legal advisor, initially under the direction of Aida Hajnaj and then under the direction of Joni Keta.

Thus, Xhafaj's "accounting" request to Gogu seems more like theater than a genuine interest in the manner of Veliaj's transfer from Durres detention center to Fier detention center.
