An Albanian man has been sentenced to 11 years and 6 months in prison in Italy, after being found guilty of attempted murder against another 28-year-old Albanian man, in an incident that occurred in October 2023 in Manta, in the province of Cuneo.
This is about Altin Yakin, 32 years old, an entrepreneur in the construction sector, who, according to the court, fired a pistol at a van, while he was aware that the 28-year-old was inside.
According to Italian media , the young man was found in serious condition by rescue teams after his vehicle had left the road.
Initially, the incident appeared to be a serious road accident.
But before entering the operating room in Cuneo, the wounded man revealed to a police officer the identity of the person who, according to his testimony, had shot him.
According to the accusation raised during the trial, the motive for the attack was related to jealousy, where Yakini suspected that the 28-year-old was a rival in relation to his girlfriend. Despite the victim's attempts to convince him that there was no reason for suspicion, tensions between them had continued in the days before the attack.
Andrea Dedi, at the time an employee of Jakin, was also involved in the same trial, accused of having helped him carry out the attack, but was found not guilty.
Meanwhile, the court found the 32-year-old Albanian guilty of attempted murder and sentenced him to 11 years and 6 months in prison.
