A testimony comes from one of the children who was locked and confined inside the Ministry of Education premises, a video of which went viral online.
AP, a 15-year-old student at the "Petro Nini Luarasi" school, recounted Wednesday's event, where he found himself isolated in one of the first-floor offices of the ministry.
He explains that he was not part of the group of protesters who entered to "occupy" the institution run by Minister Kumbaro, but was forcibly taken inside by the police.
"They shouted at us to lie on the ground and beat us"
According to the 15-year-old's testimony, he, along with a group of about 20 people – almost all schoolchildren, with the exception of 2-3 older people – were forced by the police into a room at the back of the ministry, where the police vans were parked.
"The room was like a hall, in the Ministry of Education, from the back, where the police vans were. There were about 20 of us. We were all students. Only two or three were adults. One of the policemen in red sweatshirts shouted at us to lie on the ground. Then they beat us with kicks and sticks. Some who resisted were completely bleeding," the AP reported.
The video on social media was shot by a masked police officer.
The young man had to lie on the floor for about half an hour to an hour before being transported in vans to the police station.
The 15-year-old also revealed a detail about the video that has been widely circulated on social media, where young people are seen lying on the floor.
He stated that the video was shot by the law enforcement officers themselves. "He did it over my head. It was a police officer wearing a mask," the student concluded his story. AP/ VNA
