Prime Minister Edi Rama is expected to convene the Socialist Party Assembly on September 11. Media sources indicate that the date has already been set for Rama to present the new government, following his victory in the May 11 elections, where the Socialist Party won 83 seats.
2 weeks before the Assembly, Prime Minister Edi Rama attended meetings regarding the names that will be part of the executive.
Yesterday, he received in his office at the Prime Minister's Office the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku and the Minister of Entrepreneurship, Delina Ibrahimaj. Rama also met in his office with businessman Behgjet Pacolli.
While everyone is awaiting the names selected by the head of the executive, President Bajram Begaj will have to decree a date for the first session of the new parliament.
According to the constitution, the head of state has the possibility, within a 10-day period, to convene the first meeting, that of the constituent assembly of parliament.
September 10 is the first date when Begaj can summon parliament, while the deadline is September 20.
At the first meeting of the new parliament, a temporary commission is elected to verify mandates, where one by one the deputies are invited to take the oath.
The session then continues with the election of the new speaker of the assembly, where the candidate for speaker is proposed by at least 15 deputies and is elected without debate and by secret ballot with a majority of votes.
