The murders of January 21/ Balla: After 2 days, the projectile that killed Aleks
Interior Minister Taulant Balla

The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, announced in a press conference that in two days, the projectile that killed Aleks Nika in the protest of January 21, 2011 will be sent to Italy for examination.

Balla further said that the decision of Strasbourg opens a new way for the investigations to go to the end.

It is true that for January 21 to March 21, 2011 I filed a lawsuit on behalf of the SP, with all the information and findings that we as the injured party had, today we are in completely new conditions, after an exhaustive decision of the ECtHR , in the light of this decision, the state police has identified the tasks that have emerged, related to the issues in that decision, for the investigation of the actions of the executive authorities immediately after the event, but also for the main element, the chain of command that led to that state murder.

It is the duty of the state institutions and agencies, the police, the prosecutor's office of Tirana that has the file, because the murder of two of the four victims is considered without a perpetrator, you know that the file is not closed and there is no statute of limitations, the prosecutor's office has all opportunities to continue by translating the decision of the ECHR that is mandatory, that is mandatory, we have translated it and have it ready, to do the full investigation, where the emphasis is placed on the chain of command and the steps taken by state bodies to obstruct justice

The decision opens a new path that the police will follow to the end, after two days they will go to Italy for an examination of shells and other elements, without violating investigative secrecy, in order to reach a conclusion on this matter.

From now on, there will be no room for abuse as the decision is mandatory for implementation beyond the emotions that each of us may have. I speak here as a minister, not as a protester of January 21, 2011,' said Balla.
