Summit and protest in Tirana, the EU reacts: Guarantee security while respecting
European Union

The European Union considers the protest called by the opposition on December 6 as an exercise of the legal freedoms of citizens, which must be respected by the authorities despite the fact that the EU-Western Balkans summit is taking place in Tirana on the same day.

"This is the first time that the EU-Western Balkans summit is held in the region, sending a strong message to Albania and the entire Western Balkans about their geostrategic importance for the EU. We are confident that, as hosts, the Albanian public authorities will ensure the safe and orderly development of the summit, respecting the legal exercise of freedoms by citizens", said the Delegation of the European Union in Tirana to A2.

The socialist majority has accused the opposition that with this protest it is violating the country's interests and the security of the summit between the European Union and the countries of the Western Balkans, violating the Albanian customs of hospitality. While the opposition has guaranteed that the protest will be peaceful, with a focus against the government, not European friends.
