From the prison where he is serving a one-year sentence, Ervin Salianji has reacted regarding the lists of candidates for MPs of the Democratic Party, as well as the dissatisfaction they have brought.
The DP left well-known Democratic names off the lists, even those who received the most votes in the "Primaries" process.
But according to Salianj, everything is now sealed and the Democrats should look to victory. He consoles and says that he understands those who have expressed dissatisfaction, but tells them that injustices are part of politics.
Salijanj's full reaction:
I feel your concerns, but this time let's give Albania a chance.
The lists of names in any case have objections and positions, each member has his favorite people, everyone can make his own list. This is even more so in the Democratic Party, which has many characters, there are debates, there are positions, unlike the opponents where the majority goes through a matrix from which they emerge, even if they think like the president.
I, too, have my objections and disputes, which I would have maintained, if I had not been forcibly isolated, depriving me of my physical freedom and great passion for politics, public service, and human and friendly relations, by removing my mandate and denying me the opportunity to run for re-election 1 day before the announcement of the lists.
I would have given my stances on the evaluations of contributions, sacrifices, resistance, and support for personalities and people who are the pillars and energy of the Democrats at the center and grassroots, in the meetings of the structures.
Distance and isolation do not prevent me from being empathetic. Therefore, while congratulating the winning team of candidates, today I am and feel the pain and helplessness of many friends who have given and continue to give so much for the DP, who deserved greater appreciation.
I am with them, and I am convinced, and I would like this word from cell 6 to be a comfort and guarantee; not a single gram of sweat shed will go to waste, no contribution is undone, not reduced to zero. Politics is a marathon and the moments when it seems like you have sunk or injustice has brought you to your end, are in fact a strong basis for strengthening and rising again. I have personally tried it many times and I have always risen stronger, battles make you stronger, no one should give up if they are to succeed.
Democrats do not forget anyone's sacrifices and their compass is the most accurate. This is just a stage that ended today. From this moment on, we are not allowed to waste energy on worries.
We must all together be the unstoppable engines of the campaign. With the credits and reputation of people who have given without receiving, let's show that a better, normal Albania, with the rule of law, with meritocracy and equality of opportunity, with a focus on the economy and the concerns and troubles of every citizen, is the interest that guides us, not personal achievements.
The fight against Gadaf Rama's harem and the overthrow of the most criminalized and corrupt government in the history of Albania is a national mission. This is bigger than any of us, and an inexhaustible motivation.
Unity and struggle against the government and support for each other will make the vital rotation possible on May 11th.
You know it well. If I were in different conditions, I would mention you by name one by one and I would appreciate your every contribution from beginning to end. Today I send you hugs and tell you that I feel as you feel the missed opportunity, the non-realization, the stopping of a project or aspiration. But this time we must give Albania a chance, by fighting for every vote for the Democratic Party and the Opposition.
