Prime Minister Edi Rama, during the SP assembly meeting, presented the new division of Parliamentary Committees in the new Assembly.
Rama also revealed changes in leadership and the creation of several new parliamentary committees.
The opposition will currently lead the Media Committee and the Committee for Culture, Tourism and Diaspora, while the majority will take charge of the others.
Edi Rama: The high number of members per Committee and the movement of MPs from one to another has prevented the Assembly from having sufficient focus, efficiency, and, according to groups, from having a certain degree of specialization.
It is suggested that in order to promote greater accountability, to guarantee greater subject knowledge in each of the priority areas for negotiations, the Assembly needs more permanent committees and fewer members in their composition, reducing to a minimum the number of female deputies who move from one to another as ambulant members. The working group suggests a reorganization of the committees as follows.
The Committee on Economy, Employment and Finance , where as you heard, employment comes as a novelty in the name. Referring to Chapters 2 and 19 of the negotiations with the EU, it is suggested that this committee be led by the parliamentary majority.
The Committee on Legal Affairs and Public Administration is charged with the mission and responsibility of maintaining the burden of reviewing laws for the modernization of our system and the Administration. It is suggested that this committee be led by the parliamentary majority.
Committee on Internal Affairs and Defense – Will be led by the parliamentary majority.
Committee on Education, Science and Sports : Will be led by the parliamentary majority.
Committee on Health and Social Protection : Will be led by the opposition
Media Commission - Leave the opposition alone.
